Easy like Sunday Morning
I don't remember the last time that I just sat around and did nothing in the day time. This morning was church. We tried yet another congregation looking for a home. I don't know if this is the one or not. We will try it again though and see if it works out. After that, the wife and daughter went to sell girl scout cookies and left me at home with 4 boys. I worked on my car for a while but eventually lost that battle and came inside. Then of was a long afternoon of watching a movie with Mikey while the babies ran wild around the house. It nice to take a workaholics break every now and then.

Hanging out at Home
Ahh. What a nice day. Normally when it's CAVU and 67, I just wish I was flying. Not today though. Today I'm happy to be hanging out with the family. Listening to my children scream and yell about how they hate home schooling. Making grilled cheese and Top Raman. Working on my constantly broken car. Cleaning up the gararge which seems to have a mess which is directly related to how long I'm on the road. Watching T-ball practice. In the words of Dr. Dre, "today it was a good day."

Back to Work
Well, the family has gone home and I am, once again, on the road. It was a nice weekend but there is work to be done. Sometimes I wish that I could be more like some of my co-workers. I don't know if it is apathy or a lack of reality but others seem to be at home with the family while I am at work doing everything in my power to see a successful product launch. The part that really chaps my hide is that I know how it will end up. The ball will drop and someone will pick it up. The picker upper will never get credit. The dropper will never be known and next time we are at this junction, no one will see the ball heading for the edge. I have been a picker upper for years. I don't think that I will any more. I guess that makes me "not a team player." Oh well, sometimes the best you can do is to just mind your own stuff.
I will soon know how it all went down but the story, be it good or bad, will never be told in the Ivory towers.

At home with my family
Well, I'm back from China and spending some time at home with the family. Well, by "at home" I mean at my wife's folks place. And by "with the family" I mean with my wife and our babies. Two of my kids went to their Dad's/grandpa's place. I guess that sounded like a better offer than hanging out with us. The other one took a bithday trip down to Lego Land with grandma and grandpa. So, just Chanel and the babies and I.
We didn't get out much. We spent the first night at the Marriott. Then we took advantage of a vacant house and spent the next two days hanging around the house. Babies are a lot of fun and rewarding but restrict the list of things to do. We talked about the Zoo or mueseum but, in the end, ended up just hanging out and visiting with family. Nonetheless, I had a really great time and it's nice to hold my wife and play with my children.

Grandpas
We are grandpa rich. We have 3 grandpas and 2 great-grandpas. Grandpas are a really great asset; they play and wrestle, they hold and hug, they even help you fix up your house and build things. In the last few days alone we have had grandpa support to watch our kids and give us a bit of time together,de-stump my lawn, care for my dog while I'm out of town, take a kid to an amusment park, and make us a spaghetti lunch. When I stop to count my blessings, grandpas are among them.

Eating in China
It a double edged sword. You have to eat but you never know what you should. Every one has thier own rules:
Vegitarian (except McDonald's)
No pork or "weird stuff"
Only meat which is reconizable
Mine is simple:
Nothing with a face still on it. If it used to have a face and it was removed before coming to the table, I'm fine. If the face is still there, I'm out.
You'd be supprised how many things come with faces. Shrimp/prawns, fish head soup, full fish, even chicken and the occational baby pig.
It didn't work this trip. I spent one day sick In bed. I Dont know If it was the burger with egg and bacon or the onion soup Or even the guinness "local brew" but something got me. Walk in the mine field long enough and your bound to hit one eventually. Oh well, 24 hours and I'm back at it.
The above menu lays out their selection pretty good on the cover. Unfortunatly, we never saw that 4th item hit the table.
Heading home.
Here I am at the hong kong airport. I have decided to give the old "iPhone blog" another go. It has been 20 days but feels much longer. I can't wait to get home to my family. In the past 3 weeks my sister moved, my children advanced grades in school, my dog learned to sleep outside, my babies learned to jump, and my wife has, again, proven that she is a stroger person than I could ever be. She's really my insperation.
As a side note, the picture I chose for this trial blog is from the transport van this day we were following a truck packed with live cows. They are packed in so tight that u figure they must have been dropped in from the top. PETA could get years of propaganda from just one week in china. :)
